Ciao!
Spring Break is officially over and it's back to reality! Good thing
reality here in Italy is still fun! :) Today's cooking class was one of my favorites! Mary Lou taught us how to make...
Mushroom Soup & Nutella Cake
Ingredients: mushrooms, cream, cheese, bread, sunflower oil, olive oil,
garlic, wine, butter, bouillon cubes |
First, we made the croutons! Which in my opinion- makes the soup!
Laura cut a loaf of bread into little squares while Megan chopped up some garlic. |
The garlic was then put in a pan with olive oil and some chili powder. |
Once heated, we added the mushrooms. LOTS of mushrooms! |
While the mushrooms were cooking, we finished making the croutons. Mary Lou put sunflower oil into a smaller pan and added the pieces of bread. They cook fairly quick. |
Once they are toasted, remove them from the pan and place them on paper towels in order to absorb the excess oil. |
Mary Lou continued to stir the mushrooms in between making the croutons. |
Once the mushrooms were cooked, we poured them into a big soup bowl and
then used a mixer to grind them up. |
Add cream and then water depending on how thick you want it. |
Mary Lou also added a 1/2 stick of butter, white wine, and chicken bouillon cubes. |
Finished croutons! So good! |
The longer it cooks the thicker it will be.
Mary Lou added some chopped up parsley for decoration :) |
Put lots of croutons and cheese on top and EAT! |
and now for the very simple but tasty cake...
Ingredients: sponge cake, Nutella, cream, milk |
Separate the cake into layers and pour a few drops of milk onto the cake to soften it. |
Mix the Nutella and cream in a bowl. |
[I give full credit to my roomie, Katie, for this cake] |
Spread the Nutella mix in between the layers and all around! |
...and that's it! So easy!!! |
...and So delicious!! :) |
If you don't like mushrooms I do not recommend this recipe :)
Hope everyone has a happy monday!!
xoxo
